Blog #14- Hindsight is 2020

Well 2020, I have never been happier to say goodbye to a year before, except for maybe 2013, but that’s a story for another time.

I went into this year and decade thinking this is going to be the roaring 20s, it’s going to be awesome and I’m going to really make the most out of it and then COVID hit.

Goodbye concerts. Goodbye NYC trips/traveling. Goodbye seeing family and friends. Goodbye hopes of finding my dream job. Goodbye to a lot of things.

Hello masks and hand sanitizer and crazy lines at every store and quarantining and just craziness.

Quarantine hit and I watched a lot of TV, wrote a lot, slept, and reflected. Honestly, I loved lockdown. It gave me time to relax and unwind from the hustle and bustle of it all. I should have read more considering the amount of books I have, but maybe eventually I will.

Sure, there were some fun highlights: birthdays, weddings, etc. But mostly it was filled with masks and work.

None of us are counting this year and we shouldn’t feel behind. Instead we should be thankful we had some time to sit back, relax, and appreciate life.

This year has taught me a lot. It taught me to be kinder, to not dwell on where you are in life and focus on the now. 2020 taught me about equal rights and opened my eyes to important issues in the world. It taught me that you should never ever take for granted the ones you love and the moments that make you happy. It taught me that sometimes it’s ok to cry and feel like you are getting nowhere, but so are thousands of other people.

While we are not out of this pandemic yet (please still wear your mask, social distance, and wash your hands), we are so close. We get closer everyday. I am optimistic for 2021. By this time next year, maybe we will be back to normal. Well, not normal but back to life again, back to celebrating holidays and hanging out with friends and screaming my lungs out at live shows.

I did start writing for some new sites and I did get rejected for plenty. Next year, I am not stressing over any of that. I will just better myself and try to live my best life and be happy.

If we can survive this, we can survive anything. I can’t wait to hug you all again soon. Cheers to 2021.
